Armand proudly showed me his recently published "Catalog of Himalayan Mountaineering Correspondence" during his latest trip to Kona. The man's dreams are not idle, he writes and publishes, reserves a flight and off he goes. You may rest assured that there will be Armand Adventures in 2007 to match the past twelve months.
I began reporting on his whereabouts in June 2006 and look forward to another year of Mondo-logues and Singer- isms.
In celebration of our year with Armand, here's a contest: Where does the title quote "With affection beaming in one eye and calculation shining out of the other" come from and who is the author? The first person to contact me with the correct answers wins an Armand t-shirt of choice.
The Armand Squeeze, also known as the PRT Cram at West Virginia University, took place on November 9. Armand amicably wedged himself between these joyful young men and women.
The PRT Cram was just one of the activities during WVU's Mountaineer Week. The PRT handles about 16,000 riders per day (as of 2005). The system uses about 70 vehicles, with an advertised capacity of 20 people each (although a more practical number is more like 15).[1]
"I think we had about 30 people in that car!" said Armand. I wonder if he even noticed the young men behind him.
11/28/06. According to Erin Blake, Special Events Coordinator:
"The total was 66 people. Dr. Singer participated with the Sigma Kappa sorority. They had 5 minutes to get as many people as they could. Another group got 80 which was the highest for this year."
