The structure above is a popular fishing spot at the Natural Energy Lab ("OTEC") that never fails to grab my attention when I'm walking along that shoreline. While using my favorite photo editor, Picnik, I tried using a black and white filter and saw the big word "Danger" disappear (click each photo for a bigger format). I chuckled (do you know what a chuckle sounds like?) at the thought: It's NOT there in black and white!
What constitutes danger? Who makes the call? Most important, whose decision is it to heed the signs? Especially, when it's NOT there in black and white.
