I came across this article by Azar Nafisi, author of Reading Lolita in Tehran I immediately identified with her sentiments and at the same time, redirected my emotions. She says:
“I believe that it is only through empathy, that the pain experienced by an Algerian woman, a North Korean dissident, a Rwandan child or an Iraqi prisoner, becomes real to me and not just passing news.”
I am now of the opinion that it is time for all of us who are empathic by nature to reach toward the heavens, rather than opt for the hell that may await us if we reject popular dogma. Time to change poles and choose to rise, even if we are the only ones along for the ride.
Why choose to go to hell in order to redeem another soul? Why don't we all aspire to heaven and attract others to follow suit?
