HeartRise is a combination of all that has piqued my interest and touched my heart in the past 15 years as a yoga teacher and the last 5 years as a massage therapist. I've been searching for a way to package what I do best, tie it up with a beautiful bow to offer. Ultimately, I realized that there is no ONE way and not even ONE RIGHT way, just simply MY way. If it helps you in any way, or inspires you to find YOUR way to thrive, that would be my blessing.
Progressively, it took several books by Lynn Grabhorn to lead me to the Abraham-Hicks materials. It was then that I had a new way to decipher and interpret all that I had learned from yoga and living in this physical body. While the yoga sutras continue to enthrall me through my teachers, I'm able to understand and appreciate them much more through the works of the following individuals and organizations:
- The HeartMath Institute:
- Bruno Chikly, M.D. : Lymphatic Drainage Therapy
- Candace Pert, Ph.D.
- Bruce Lipton, Ph.D.
- David Servan-Schreiber, M.D., Ph.D.
- Lynne McTaggart
- ...and the list continues to grow.
Bottom line: find what makes you happy, and you and your body will thrive.
Our existence is holistic:our physical, mental and emotional components are intertwined and inseparable. What people knew instinctively thousands of years ago, science is today proving at the cellular level.
In the past few years, I have found myself employing a combination of some eight principles or practices in my own life and in my yoga classes and bodywork treatments. Today, I'll explain the first:
The Setting. I utilize the emWave device developed by the Institute of HeartMath, as an aid to teaching and reaching heart coherence, the most conducive state for healing and stress reduction. At the same time, I also use a very gentle but profoundly relaxing technique known as Lymphatic Drainage Massage to stimulate the immune system.
This initial session takes about 90 minutes. The first half hour to acquaint you with the emWave device and to attain heart coherence. The next hour is reserved for your Lymphatic Drainage treatment (LDT).
"I started getting lymph massages last year after going through chemotherapy and radiation and I wanted to make sure that my immune system was operating at its optimum capacity to avoid getting sick.
I was the only one in my office who did not get sick during the flu season, so I felt that I was being proactive with my health care. " - Barbara E., Kailua-Kona, HI
This lays the foundation for all of the next steps. Your immune system gets a boost and you come away with the experience of feeling the natural flow of well-being. LDT treatments are very useful if you are recovering from an illness or injury or wish to lessen the effects of stress on your body. Practice with the emWave also allows you to enter coherence on a regular and consistent basis.
