During the summer months in Hawaii, most of the Buddhist temples hold Bon Dances. Traditionally a dance to honor deceased ancestors, Bon Dances have become annual events attracting people of all ethnicities and religions in Hawaii. The dance at the Kona Daifukuji Soto Mission (left) was held this past Saturday, July 8. There are devoted people who practice the steps to various songs and will lead others around and around the tower. Then there are those who just love to dance to the beating of the drums, making up their routines as they go.
